The 8 Best Coffee Shops on Nantucket
While Nantucket’s a place that’s more about slowing down than anything else, there’s certainly no shortage of fantastic coffee options on island. Below, we’ve rounded up a few of the top places to get your daily dose of caffeine across the island, including some of your favorite Nantucketer’s preferred places and orders.
A year-round café and culinary school located in the heart of downtown, Corner Table Café has all of the expected coffee offerings plus healthy-yet-comforting grab-and-go goods, all surrounded by stacks of books and board games welcoming guests to stay a while.
22 Federal Street; Open daily from 7AM-5PM
The Nantucket Pharmacy might be one of the last places you’d expect to find a full-bodied cup of Joe, but within 45 Main Street you’ll find an old-school soda fountain (circa 1929) serving coffee, hand-rolled bagels, açaí bowls and smoothies, even Island Kitchen’s premium ice cream, and more. Pull up to a retro diner stool and experience the nostalgia for yourself.
45 Main Street; Open daily
Editor’s Note: Recommended by Tim Ehrenberg in his Little ACK Book as his daily iced coffee go-to
Recently renovated, Handlebar is a gorgeous, airy space with plenty of seating for enjoying your daily coffee (especially during days with agreeable weather when you can take advantage of its outdoor patio). Plus, it’s easy to find; you can’t miss the vintage, blue Chevy truck parked out front!
15 Washington Street; Open daily from 7AM-4PM
Editor’s Note: Recommended by Todd Plummer in his Little ACK Book where he orders “the biggest, blackest cold brew”
You can’t really beat the location of The Hub, situated on the corner of Main Street and Federal Street. Enjoy your to-go cup (and likely, whatever souvenir you also purchased) by people-watching from a bench just outside or taking a morning stroll through the harbor.
31 Main Street; Open daily from 7AM
For the early risers, Island Coffee is the only coffee shop (at least on this list) that opens at 6AM. Located right near Steamship Authority’s terminal, it’s also a great pitstop for those catching a ferry to grab a coffee as well as a bag of beans (for themselves or someone else to enjoy) if they’re heading back home.
4 Broad Street; Open daily from 6AM-2PM
Editor’s Note: Stubbys (on the same block at 8 Steamboat Wharf) shares the same ownership and also serves Island Coffee!
Lemon Press is known as one of the healthier casual dining options on island—with a range of smoothies, bowls, salads, and more—but also offers a full coffee menu. Even more, it’s a great option for those who are more experimental with their morning beverage, thanks to offerings like Grey Lady (a lavendar-infused espresso and vanilla latte), Gold Dust (a turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, date sugar, cardamom, and black pepper concoction), and more.
41 Main Street; Open Monday-Saturday from 8AM-4PM and Sunday from 8AM-2PM
While known for their gourmet sandwiches (Turkey Terrific, anyone?), Provisions boasts an equally great brew. Plus, located by the harbor, it makes for a great place to enjoy a cappuccino while soaking in the seaside views.
3 Harbor Square; Open from 7AM-4PM daily
A mid-island coffee shop and general store, Roastd is beloved for its brews and wellness knickknacks alike (there’s no shortage of CBD-infused products here).
159 Orange Street; Open daily from 6:30AM-4PM
Editor’s Note: Recommended by Georgie Morley in her Little ACK Book for either an oat milk flat white or the espresso tonic
