Meet The Brant: Salt House Nantucket’s Renovated and Rebranded Property Opening Spring 2024

Salt House Nantucket (to become The Brant) at 6 & 8 North Beach Street in Brant Point

You may recognize Salt Hotels as the tastefully designed, home-away-from-homes in Provincetown, Miami Beach, and Hollywood (among others)—and as of recently, Nantucket. After a successful summer pop-up on island last year, the property (called Salt House Nantucket) returned with even more rooms (22, to be exact) for yet another peak season. But this time, it’s here to stay: the boutique hotel will undergo renovations this fall and reopen under a new name, The Brant, as early as spring 2024.

To learn more about the brand and get exclusive details of the project, Little ACK Book went straight to the source, enlisting Salt Hotels’ Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer David Bowd and Chief Creative Officer Kevin O’Shea. Here’s exactly what they shared.

Why Nantucket?

DB: With The Cape being home and Provincetown being our first property, it made perfect sense to expand in our home area. We have visited Nantucket so many times and are incredibly excited to be here. Our partners/the property owners are all also local and have great knowledge of the area and a passion to create something unique and never before experienced on the island.

A guest room

What drew you to the Brant Point neighborhood, in particular?

DB: It’s so central but also just far enough off the beaten path you can truly relax and unwind. But within 5 minutes you are in the center of everything. The close by beaches are amazing and the entire area is very residential making you feel like a local when you stay with us

The property’s common area

How does Salt House Nantucket differ from your other locations? How is it similar?

DB: Salt House Nantucket brings the signature elements from our other properties including its hyper-local focus, great design, and highly attentive service. Like some of our other properties, it is also an oasis while still being so central.

What do you hope guests will take away from a stay at Salt House Nantucket?

DB: The same love for the island that we all have. We often say if a guest leaves us and hasn’t had the best time, not only in our hotel but throughout the town then we have failed and not advised them properly of the places to go.

Fresh, complimentary breakfast served daily

What are your plans for the 2024 renovations? What can guests look forward to?

KO: We are starting construction on The Barn this fall which will be the centerpiece of The Brant when we relaunch and open next spring. The Barn will house reception and a bar/lounge where we will serve our signature breakfast each morning and then this space will turn into a convivial meeting spot for guests and members throughout the day to enjoy a cocktail or a dip into the pool which is also coming for the 2024 season.

Is there anything else that you'd like to add or highlight?

KO: We are excited to be fully launching the property with its new name and branding next spring: The Brant. We will continue to operate as Salt House Nantucket through Stroll weekend, and then make the transition in advance of our spring 2024 opening.

Rates begin at $695 during peak season and $250 otherwise. To book, visit Salt House Nantucket or call (508) 960-6528.
